Exercises to improve your flexibility and balance are an important part of a beneficial fitness plan. 

 

Add Stretches to Increase Flexibility

Stretching exercises help you to increase muscle flexibility, develop joint range of motion, improve the performance in exercises and also decreases the risk of injuries. Fitness experts recommend that you include flexibility exercises at least two to three days per week into your activity program.

Flexibility exercises include yoga, pilates, tai chi, basic and dynamic stretches.


Include Exercises to Improve Balance

Balance exercises can help in reducing the risk of falling and injuring yourself. It helps in improving your equilibrium. You should work on your core strength to improve balance. Core strength can be improved by yoga, pilates, tai chi and core specific floor exercises. 

Some of the balance exercises are walking backward or sideways, standing on one leg, heel walking, toe walking, cross over walk and standing from a sitting position. 


Other simple exercises to improve balance include:

• Standing on one foot with your eyes closed

• Tandem walk 

• Toga and Tai chi

• Sit ups or crunches
