The changing times have made our children so busy with their assignments and friend-circles that they hardly have time to get to know their roots and extensions - relatives and ancestors.

Spending time with your children to prepare a scrapbook of pictures from the past - school days, marriage, birthdays, festivals and family gatherings could be a creative way to sensitize your children to old and new family bonds. There are various kinds of readymade scrapbooks available in the market today like hard bound or spiraled ones.

To make the activity more personal and interesting, you could even prepare your own scrapbook by using different colored charts, sketches, art-paper, stickers, etc. Some people even like to keep butter paper between the sheets to make it look like a real album.

The scrapbook can revolve around a particular theme such as ‘From Birth to Birth' involving pictures of your birth to the birth of your baby. You could even use sub-captions to indicate any significant events like marriage or achievements to indicate the various phases of your/your child's life.

Enabling your kids to use their own creative style to beautify the scrap book and appreciating their efforts would not only be a part of the quality time spent with them but also develop the child's creative skills and curiosity in family-related matters.
